New Around Here
I combed the forum and apologize if this is mentioned elsewhere. Running 380.62_1 on a RT-N66R, I recently enabled dual-stack capability with Comcast as an ISP. For clients, this went very smoothly. For servers on the LAN, not so much. To start, there is no graceful way to keep the DNS entries updated on dyndns.org for both v4 and v6. Most advice is to define two different DNS entries, which kind-of misses the point of dual stack.
The other problem is on the LAN side. I have 7 static IPv4 addresses assigned and want at least one also to have an IPv6 address assigned, so that the Merlin DNS server resolves the single name with both v4 and v6 entries. Is that possible via the GUI? Also, can a firewall hole be opened up for several ports of a particular v6 address via the GUI? I have not found that either. Ideally, all applications inside the LAN and through the WAN would be able to use the same name for both v4 and v6.
Many thanks,
Marty
