how do i read the log files output from the merlin software?

when i open the .gz files and look at the file inside with a text editor it is garbled text.

I guess I am stupid I am not sure how to read them

any help would be great

.gz files are compressed with GZIP. I don't know what platform you are on, so google for an application that can extract GZIP files.

IZArc or WinZip should do you OK on Windows, for instance.

Those are not logfiles, they are binary data files intended for use by the traffic monitor pages. They are not user-readable.

Still dont understand?

I do not see anything being logged in the system files with regard to traffic monitoring?

1. I am completely lost with this router how do you read traffic information.

2. How do you store log files?

3. I don't see where this router records anything worth looking at?

My netgear router was straight forward. I have this router for a couple weeks and still can not log any useful information "Totally Confused"

4. If the traffic information is being stored in the binary files how do you read it?

I whish someone would help me? I am frustrated how the hell do you interact with the logging in this router?

Click on "Traffic Manager", then go to the "Traffic Monitor" tab. The data is being rendered there.
