Thanks for the initial feedback. Unsticking this thread now, will start advertising the https URL in the documentation.

I'm undecided yet if I want to ultimately force all http traffic over https. It's not as if there was anything confidential on that site, so I like leaving the final decision to the end user.

You can try to use .htaccess to redirect from HTTP to HTTPS :)

Yep. I already do that for a number of sites for a customer of mine, although inside the vhost config file rather than an htaccess (there are around 150 websites on these servers that I manage for him).

Last Saturday night, I was actually migrating 90 of them off an old CentOS5 + Apache 2.0 VM to a new CentOS7 + Apache 2.4 VM. New VM also adds SNI support, which will be nice in the future if the customer's /24 ever becomes too crowded.
