I'm new to this forum. I need some help and I hope I get the right place to make my questions. I'm going to buy an Asus AC68U router (maybe 2, depending what you'll say here).

I currently got this setup: my ISP modem connected to a Netgear WNDR4500 router (N900). I've setted up 2 wifi networks there, choosing the more clean channels, one at 2.4G and one at 5G. There are no cabled devices to this one.
On another room (10mt far away from the WNDR4500) I got a Netgear WNCE4004 (a N900 bridge for media streaming) connected via wireless (tried both 2.4g and 5g network). This one has 4 LAN ports (10/100 only) with these connections: a smart tv, a xbox360, a tv-sat decoder and my desktop PC.
Now my issues: first very poor wifi signal, specially for 5G network, then the wnce4004 keeps to lose connection and disconnets all my wired devices, making them very unusable (specially desktop pc).
I can't cable the room with all these devices so I need wireless bridge or repeater there.

So I decided to changing all my environments. I really liked asus products so I've read around for asus routers and as I said I'm going to buy an AC68U router to connect to ISP modem. Then what else do I need for the other room to bridge networks? Should I buy 2 AC68U units? How should I set all the environments to get best results?

Thank you all.

Anyone? Please help me!

edit:
I'm reading around and I've found another solution. If I get a rt-ac68u and a EA-N66 repeater (connected to an ethernet gigabit switch)? Maybe a good choice? Or do I need 2 ac68u?

AC68 is having issues recently....If u have to get that model, you would want to use older firmware and not current release. (there are plenty of people taking about the issues)

I suggest the AC56U if you must get a newer router now. I have not seen any reports of issues with this model with current firmware.

Thank you all.

Get an AC56U, make it the main router and use your WNDR4500 as an access point/bridge.

AC68U with new FW works good in my house. I have 10 devices connect to the network. (desktop, laotops, iphones, SmartTV, 3 TV boxes. Lan printer, 3TB USB 3.0 Hard drive)

Thank you all for the answers. I'd like to switch to a newer router with ac technology. I can wait another week or so. Usually how often Asus release firmware updates?
If I decide for ac68u should I buy 2 of them and sell netgear devices or should I stick with wndr4500 as repeater/bridge?

I'd say make the jump, just recently upgraded from my N56U to an AC68R and so far so good. Has everything you would need in a home router not to mention frequent updates and support for custom firmware (RMerlin, DDWRT, Tomato etc)

I'm going to buy online 2 ac68u at the beginning of the next week. In the meanwhile I'll going to follow the forum to see if reboot issues get solved.
