I had squid installed when I ran a smoothwall setup some time ago. I really like the idea of caching images, OS updates, downloads, ect. I installed entware on my ac66r last night and am now looking to install a few useful packages. Something to cache, something to block ads and then some apps for downloading. Will this be too much strain for the routers processing capabilities and what are some good recommended packages to achieve my tasks?

On a side note, over the past day or two, I've tried tomato, ddwrt, stock and now I'm back to Merlin for good. Thanks Merlin for your awesome work.

just spent the last few hours installing privoxy and fooling with it. found out afterward that it has no transparent mode, but that i'd have to setup some iptables….. which i know nothing about. uninstalled that and moved on to a file downloader to try my luck with that. installed pyLoad and got it setup enough to access the webgui, but so far i'm not too impressed and it just looks like a hassle. considering removing all the entware stuff, going back to download master and then wait and hope that some of these features get baked into merlins firmware.
