pfSense is still very current...

Pfsense is - not the links in this first post. One of them points to a now dead reseller (NCIX), and I doubt the recommendations in it will inform potential users about the need for AES-NI support from now on.

Fun stuff with pfSense 2.4 - fq_codel traffic shaping...

Still a bit complicated with pfSense and fq_codel, but they have folks engaged that have done a fair amount of work on both freebsd and bufferbloat in general...
