I have recently got a N66u and am very impressed with its features, I have set the lan ip range 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.120 one thing is puzzling me I have a ip address 192.168.0.199 in the client status page that I have no idea what it is and with the ip range I have set how it got a xxx.xxx.x.199 ip
The only thing I can think it is a switch that connects to my TiVo and Popcorn Hour, would a switch het its own ip if so why one outside the lan ip range.

Any ideas

You probably have a device with a static IP. You should be able to track it down through its MAC address - enter the first three components on the OUI lookup database to see who manufactures its network card.

Thanks for the fast reply, the link you gave says its a Apple device, we have 2 iPhone's and one ipad here all three are shown correctly on the client list, could the xxx.xxx.x.199 be a neighbours apple product.

If you're using WPA2/AES with a strong passphrase, it seems unlikely that any neighbors would be on your wireless, especially with what appears to be a static IP like that. Could it be a device that was previously assigned but hadn't yet timed out when you changed the range? Don't know if that's possible, but that might fit what you're seeing. If that's the case, it will disappear at some point, either by something that you do that releases and renews the leases, or by the lease timing out.

If you want to be 100% sure, see if the complete MAC address matches one of your devices.

Also note that the Network map will list devices that are no longer connected as well - you can reboot the router if you want to get a refreshed list.

I rebooted the router a few times before I posted. I am using WPA2/AES and using what I consider a strong passphrase containing 11 characters. I'll be surprised if someone is in on my network I live in a close containing 30 houses. I've actually got 2 devices showing in in the client list that I cant account for the Apple xxx.xxx.x.199 and a Cisco xxx.xxx.x.7 I even just went upstairs and reset the router but they still appear, very strange

You are saying you can account for all of the wireless device's MAC addresses. But if you used one or more of those wireless capable devices to plug into the RT-N66U via Ethernet cable it would likely use a completely different MAC address for the same device and it would register as second entry in the router's devices list even though it is the same device. I have seen instances of supposed phantom MAC addresses show up in my device list in the past and figured this out to be the reason why.

There might also be another device you haven't yet accounted for before that is wired or wireless. Do more testing and you should be able to figure out the device or devices of yours that are connected twice. If you are worried about your neighbors accessing your wireless network change the password on your wireless network and see if you still have phantom devices connected in the device list.
