New Around Here
Hi everyone,

I got this problem recently, very headache and can't figure out why it's not working.

My Mesh network: ASUS TUF GAMING AX4200 (main node) + 1 ASUS RT-AX57 (mesh node)

  1. 10 days ago, my iphone11 (iOS 17.2.1) can't connect to my mesh network. I had noticed that it can connect to RT-AX57 (mesh node), but it can't connect to AX4200 (main node).
  2. 3 days ago, I replaced my iPhone11 with an iPhone 12 (iOS 17.2.1) -> same issue: it can connect to RT-AX57 (mesh node), but it can't connect to AX4200 (main node).
  3. Yesterday, I updated iOS 17.2.1 on my iPhone12 to iOS 17.3 -> same issue
  4. I tried to Reset Network settings on my iPhone 12 -> same issue
  5. Both my AX4200 and RT-AX57 have latest firmware: 3.0.0.4.388_33144-gf05781d for AX4200 and 3.0.0.4.386_52294-g3d46867 for RT-AX57
  6. Today, I looked at the log in AX4200: the repeated error is "Failed in BL/ACL 0/1 checking => send an AUTH seq#2 with Status code = 1". I tried to search for this error but no luck.
    1. In the log file that I attached: 8a:3f:c7:86:6b:d3 is my iPhone12's private MAC address
What happened to my mesh network? Why my iPhone12 cannot connect to the main node? How should I fix this.

Best regards,

This is truly indeed an odd issue.

I would try resetting the main router and setup from scratch. (Do not load any previous saved config files and do not setup AiMesh node at this time.)

Once main router is up & running are you still having issues connecting to the main router? If so can you downgrade to the previous firmware and check for issues. This may be an issue with current firmware.

Since ASUS TUF GAMING AX4200 is a MediaTek-based router similar to RT-AX59U, this is safe to assume that this was caused by the latest firmware update 3.0.0.4.388_33144, which was already removed for AX59U from their site. Here is the topic where similar issues are discussed for AX59U: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rt-ax59u-firmware-version-3-0-0-4-388_33144.88524/.

So you can either roll back to the previous version or wait for the updated one, I hope it won't take long for Asus to release a fix.

UPDATE: Looks like they also removed 3.0.0.4.388_33144 for TUF AX4200, so definitely a firmware issue.

I agree I can't find FW version 33144 on asus website.

I just download and update my router with the older firmware: 52294 => my iPhone can work very well with this.

Thanks a lot everyone!
