I was trying to ping some IPv6 servers and received the error
Invalid characters of domain name is ':' !
(Attached image)

Using IPv6, it only works if I enter a domain name, but with IPv4, it works with names or numbers.

I`m using an AC86U router with firmware version 384.15_beta1.

Any idea?
Thank you.

It's currently a technical limitation of the netool backend service.

I see.
Could this service be changed or substituted?

Not easily, and not something I consider a priority. I had a quick look at it a few months ago, I fixed what could be fixed by adding the ipv4/ipv6 selector, but can't remember what was the exact limitation that I encountered with directly trying to use an IPv6 address. I think it's the ping busybox applet itself that didn't support it.

If you can ssh in to the router you can do a cli ping request. I never tried the gui version on an IPv6 address.
