Is an Edge Router Lite (ERL) a good idea for Gigabit Internet service?

Not sure exactly what the OP is looking to achieve here... If following on the UBNT forum, alot of user's enabled UPNP2 if they were trying to run more than one xbox or play station , so that they could run NAT open, as opposed to strict. I mentioned port forwarding (if it's for a game box), as that is what I am doing on my PoE (or ERX) for an xbox. The xbox is running NAT open . My ISP router / modem combo is running in bridge mode, so no interference from my ISP. Port forwarding is a more secure solution, than any upnp flavour..

mikrotik lets you see what ports are opened but i've seen some apps keep ports opened indefinitely and some dont. Although at the very least you can delete generated upnp rules on mikrotik. Hopefully upnp2 would be a better improvement.

pfSense has some granularity with regards to uPNP and NAT-PMP via ACL's and options...

Not using it myself, but the functionality is there...
