Having a house built. I am going to have the ethernet cables ran into a few of the rooms (Great room for tv, office, and bedrooms)

Currently I am in a small apartment with an Netgear R7800.
Having a house of this size, 2700 Sq Ft (Main floor and upstairs, basement will be unfinished), is the Mesh system what I want these days? I will have gigabyte service by Comcast. If Mesh is the way to go, is there one brand that stands out above the others? I've heard Eero has a top performer.....

Thanks in advance

If you have Ethernet probably better to just get some wired access points and plug them in. For "mesh" you are paying extra for the ability to have the devices communicate wirelessly with your base station/router.

I would be surprised if any equipment could overall outperform your R7800 with additional ethernet connected R7800s in access point mode on the other floors/sides of the house.

consider also running ethernet to a box with a blank panel in the center of each of the floor's ceilings to use for AP mounting (pillow style - looks like a smoke detector. Just keep away from fluorescent and LED light fixtures.

I really don’t want a bulky router in my great room (main area) and APs all around the house. That is why I was looking at mesh

If money is no object, and since it seems as though you clearly favor mesh, just spend a few hours perusing the reviews/articles on this forum, then ask your wife/executive assistant for her input, after which you should have sufficient facts to make an informed decision and can just order away:) If you aren't pleased with one system, return/exchange and try a different system; it will probably take some experimentation, but not enough to fret over.

Orbi and Eero are popular, pretty, and have good points. Orbi seems to have better raw performance in test results. Nothing odious about several small APs around the house, they can be as small and stylish as mesh without the extra price hike. Good luck.
