Is there a disadvantage to leaving VPN client connected all the time?

I have an Asus RT-AC86U set up as an Open VPN server. I connect my iPhone as a VPN client to access Blue Iris and Home Assistant.

Is there a disadvantage to just leaving my iPhone connected all the time?

I keep my iPhone connected when I travel since I am on public WiFi often. For the most part no harm at all other than slightly more battery usage and possible slower network performance depending on your connection.
