Is there a way to reboot AIMesh Nodes remotely?

So, the only way I know of to reboot my AIMesh Node is to physically unplug it from power and wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. (Or press the power-switch on it so it turns off, then wait a bit, and press it again to turn it back on.)

My router can be rebooted by simply logging in to the Asus web-interface and clicking on the Reboot button (right next to the Logout button) at the top of the screen, but it appears that you cannot do the same to an AIMesh Node?

Unless I'm missing something... Is there some way I haven't found yet that will let me reboot my AIMesh Node remotely? Without having to physically go there and turn it off and back on?

Thanks,
L.

If enable SSH on the router it also enables it on the nodes, you can then reboot them via an SSH session.

Interesting... How do I know what my node's IP address is, so I can log into it with my SSH client?

Network Map > AiMesh Node (circle symbol bottom left) > Click the Node on the right

the option to reboot the node is available in the Asus router app. it's puzzling why it's not there in the GUI :confused::confused:

If you assign a static IP to each of your nodes (manual assignment via DHCP), then it will be easy to reboot them via SSH because their IPs will stay the same.

Once you SSH, make sure to use the user name and password of the AiMesh router. From there, issue a reboot and you will be good to go.

I use an app to SSH in my nodes and through it I can either reboot them or restart their wireless signal.

You can remove and add back a node from the router webUI... that will reboot and refresh it! I'm able to search for and add my node in place from the end of its 77' wireless backhaul. But I only need to reboot my node when I upgrade firmware.

Forgive my ignorance -- there's an app? I'll definitely have to go check it out -- thanks for mentioning it.

Link to Apple version https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/asus-router/id1033794044

It’s a bit slow and clunky but very handy all the same. Main thing I like is the QR code for Wi-fi sharing.

I did this once -- I removed my node, intending to add it back because I wanted to change a few things I did in the initial setup.

My router positively *refused* to find that node ever again.

I had to change the node to the previous version of its firmware -- and the router, too -- before either of them would see each other. I don't know what happened but after upgrading their firmware while they were linked together in an AIMesh network, and then removing the Node from the network, they wanted nothing to do with each other...

So I will never again remove my node from my network for any reason. It's just not worth the risk. Took me *hours* to figure it out the first time...

But thanks for the suggestion. . (Besides, that SSH method worked perfectly for rebooting my node, so I'm quite happy that I have that option now.)

If you try it again, confirm the following:
o Reset the node to factory defaults and do not configure it.
o Ensure both radios on router and node are broadcasting.
o Ensure router WPS is enabled.
o Ensure router Authentication Method is not set to HTTPS.
o Place the node about ~5' from the router; or wire router LAN to node WAN.

I did all of those things... Even had Asus tech-support walk me through each of those steps twice -- the router still refused to see the AP when I would tell it to find nodes to add to the AIMesh network...

I finally downgraded the firmware -- it had upgraded itself on both the router and the AP when I set up the AIMesh network the first time. After I downgraded the firmware on both devices back to the version of the firmware they each had had when I took them out of the box, I was finally able to rebuild the AIMesh network. It was the weirdest thing. Not even Asus tech-support could figure it out -- they were all set to RMA both the router and the AP before I decided to try downgrading the firmware...

I never had much use for that app even though I've had it on my iPad forever. Node reboot worked! Thanks for that. Never tried SSH either. That's next.

> I never had much use for that app

Does the app 'share' my login, password or app usage info with ASUS?
