I'm planning on getting a roommate and to be on the safe side don't want their internet viewing habits showing up on my account. Who knows if they like to look at kiddie porn. I was going to require that they get their own service but with xfinity there can only be one line to an address. I have an ASUS N56U, is there anyway to setup a super restricted guest network that will only allow certain websites? Any other ideas?

lol i've done something like this before but my ISP is one that doesnt care. All i did was filter his traffic whenever he was up to no good. You can use asus with RMerlin firmware as it has a configurable firewall but mikrotik is a lot better for this job which is what i used.

In this case you'd want mikrotik/pfsense because they both have layer 3 to layer 7 configurable firewalls, QoS and web proxy which if you combine all these together become a very effective selective traffic filtering technique. Pfsense is actually the best for this but if you also need firewall on layer 2 than mikrotik is the only choice.

Using mikrotik i not only filtered web but applications as well such as skype, yahoo, etc.

Doesn't matter how you segregate it, it will still show up on your account.

The only solution is to have another ISP connection come in in the roommates name.

Comcast used to allow for multiple IP addresses on consumer lines - so one would have the CM <---> switch <--->Router one off one port, and the other Router/PC off the other... lots of folks did this for MicroCells from Verizon/Sprint/ATT as an example

Another alternative would be to get a second CM, split the cable, and run his own...
