Im trying to make my own cables and for the life of me I cannot strain my eyes any more trying to install the three-piece cat6 RJ45 modular terminals sold in home depot. I've had to cut away about four jacks so far and its very frustrating.

Is there an easy-to-install RJ45 plug? That does not compromise Gb-e?

thanks

I never make my own cables. For the reasons you are encountering, it is not worth the hassle. There are plenty of places online where you can order cheap cables.

On the other hand, punching down into RJ45 jacks is very easy. But there is no easy way to attach a plug that I know of.

I'm making them primarily because I'm wiring my home and have a giant spool :)

After 4 more failures I finally figured out what I was doing. In the three piece modules I needed to make sure that the first two parts (a holder and sheath I think) were slid against eachother.

Now I'm down one crappy wireless link with one more to go

I've had good success with Leviton's products. Their modular jacks are amongst the easiest I've had to wire.

But no matter how you slice it, you're always going to be futzing around with 8 little wires whenever your doing your own Cat5. I too always try to buy pre-made.
