Issues with Guest-WLAN on Zenfiwi XT9

nenya

New Around Here
Hello, I’m new to the ZenWiFi world and need your help. First of all, I tried to search for the issues a bit, but I could not find something. I also hope, I post this correctly here.

I have ZenWiFi XT9 routers connected with cables, wired Backhaul

I created my main private WiFi for my personal devices like my phone, laptop, etc.
Then I created a guest WiFi for devices like Alexa, thermostats, air conditioners, and robot vacuums - basically, anything I don’t want on my private network.

Now I have a problem with my Fire TV Stick 4K. When I connect it to the private WiFi, streaming works perfectly without any issues. But if I connect it to the guest WiFi, it doesn’t work at all.

This only happens with my Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K – at least at the moment as I still not connected all devices yet (till now Alexa Dots only), and I don’t know why this won’t work for the Stick.

There aren’t many settings I can change for the guest WiFi. I see that the Fire TV stick always connects to the 5-2 Ghz. I also have tried to change the settings „WPA2“ instead „WPA2/WPA3“ in 5-2 Ghz (as it‘s always connected there), becuase this ist he only thing I really can change there. And yes, all three SSIDs have the same PW. I also tried to ping it and it works.

On my 2nd TV in the other room, I am using Amazon Fire TV 4k max, and this works perfectly in the Guest-Wlan.

I have attached my settings, so as only in the main-wlan I have so many setting – are this settings also affecting the guest-wlan?

Can someone help me? Do I need to change something in the main settings of private Wlan?

Is there a better way to separate private and guest networks using the XT9? If yes, I would like to know how :)

However, this is very confusing me and it would be nice if some of you can support. What could be the reason here? Thanks a lot in advance for the support.

P.S. Firmware-Version : 3.0.0.4.388_24684

I found few things out and if I dont solve the issue till Tuesday, I really will sent this back...

I found out that when I am connected to the Guest Wlan and sitting in the living room, I am directy connected to the "big boss" Router and it works perfectly. Speedtest gives me 500Mbit.

When I move to the bedroom my connection switches to the Node, which is wired, and I have 40-50Mbit and also can not join to the internet (which is also weird as 50Mbit should be enough.

However the problem is the 2nd Node

My installation is

Modem from my provider in Bridge-Mode ----> That goes to the XT9 Router----> that goes to a 4 port unmanaged GB-Switch (so nothing to do except put in the cable (I have Cat 7 Cables) and all is fine) ---> that goes to bedroom with my 2nd XT9 node.

private Wlan - fast and works very good
guest Wlan - fast and works very good in living room... when moving to other room, it is extremly poor and TV Fire Stick can not work fine.

And I have set the guest Wlan to use "all nodes", not only Router.

I found another Thread here about this, which is already one year old but there are no post anymore and also no solution.
Anyone idea her what is going on?
I am about to give up shortly as I work on this for already 12 hours and I start to be bored as my ideas are gone.

Thanks a lot!
