New Around Here
i am on rogers cable in canada... recently i switched from an older rogers modem to a faster model, altho after receiving it i did read this router (hitron cgn3acsmr) has been known to be problematic

with the old modem, i had speeds around 30-50mbps download and 10 mbps upload and never had a single issue ever with lost connection or video buffering

with the new modem, when i run speed tests on different devices (pc connected via ethernet, macbook wireless, iphone wireless) i always get very high speeds (90+mbps download and 10mbps upload) so i assume the modem is not the problem as i get these speeds directly from the modem and once i have hooked up my asus router

however since i have connected my rtac68u (rogers modem as gateway) i have had several issues including sonos constantly dropping signal (pauses for about 5 seconds before resuming stream), my iphone having video stalling and buffering issues and my pc have slow video load times and buffering issues

i have updated the firmware on the asus to the latest merlin firmware and have tried adjusting several settings but still having issues

anyone have any thoughts? if i knew the asus was the issue i would upgrade to a new router but want to see if there is anything i can do since i didnt have any issues before when i had the older modem... i should add when i disable the gateway function on the modem and run it in wireless mode then i dont have these issues at all so it leads me to beleive the asus is the issue

thanks

You should disable the Gateway mode so your modem is “bridged”.

Are we on the same page? Or just confusion in terminology?

Thx for the reply

Sorry yes it was just confusing terminology on my part. I did disable the gateway mode on the rogers modem and it is running in bridge mode.

But i should add, when i run the rogers modem in gateway mode (not bridged) i have none of the connection issues i am having when i bridge it and use the asus.

I guess i could try another router but the only other router i have to try is an older one but i guess this would be my first step to see if the issue is in fact the asus
