New Around Here
Howdy,
new here and new with an asus router. i got it up and running with no problems. the wireless on this router is quite good. getting strong signal everywhere in the house. 2.4 is better then 5 but still great compared to the last router.
now on to my problem. when i use the inter-web on either my hard wired or wireless pc downstairs there is a delay when accessing a website. when i first open my browser (explorer or fire-fox) the site will say can not connect. if i refresh several times it will download the site. also on sites alot of the times the pictures will not load but the text will be there. if i hard wire my pc to the comcast modem all works great.
i pretty much left all settings to the basic config and i am using the newest firmware from the asus website.
as i said the wireless is awesome, connecting at 144mbs on 2.4 all the time and up to 300mbs on the 5hz so i dont think wireless is the problem. most likely a setting i am missing.

thanks in advance.

There could be a number of problems but it seems as though there is an issue with DNS and the router not able to fulfill DNS requests for the webpages. I see that you have the problem with both wired and wireless so try using a public DNS (i.e. Google's 8.8.8.8) in the Asus router page under LAN -> DHCP Server -> DNS Server. If you still get the same errors, look at your interface settings on the devices to make sure the DNS settings are correct. Just to make sure, this problem occurs on both wired and wireless connections correct? These suggestions should help narrow down the problem.

well i could not figure that out. i just turned off dhcp server to see what happens. my download speed doubled.

is it dangerous to disable this setting?

as soon as i re-enable it the delay starts.

Do you clients have static IP address, DNS and gateway entry?
Check what your IP address, DNS and gateway enrtries ar e with and without DHCP enabled.

Cheers

Well I seem to got that fixed. Thanks

But now my 5the is not working. I can see it but nothing will connect with it. Keeps saying authentication fails.
I changed nothing on it. Redid password and st
ill. Will not connect
