Linksys LRT214 - mapping public IP to specific server in DMZ?

Kenneth E

New Around Here
Hi,
I currently have a Zyxel Zywall USG20 which no longer can cope with the internet speed from my ISP (it maxes out at approx 120 mbps, but I have 250 mbps from my ISP).

On the Zyxel i use a DMZ to host several devices (servers, cameras), but only one server is accessible directly from the internet, and only a few services are allowed through the firewall to the DMZ. I only have one public IP which is not static.

As I don't use any of the advanced functions that require subscription on the Zyxel, I though I could get by with using a Linksys LRT214. However, when setting up the DMZ, I cannot find any way of mapping the single dynamic IP to one specific server in the DMZ. I have read the manual, but I might be missing something.

1) Is it possible to map the public dynamic IP to a specific server in the DMZ on the LRT214?

2) If such mapping is not possible, do you have any advice on a router/firewall that can do this and handle at least 500 mbps throughput (ideally 1 gbps). I know that the Zyxel USG110 will do this, but it is rather expensive (5800 NOK, compared to 1400 NOK for the LRT214).

I have considered pfsense, but that seems overkill for my use and getting fast enough hardware to handle 1gbps will make it quite expensive as well.

Kind regards
Kenneth E

Just an update:
Upon further research it seems that I need a static public IP address to make the DMZ setup work as I need it to. I have therefore decided to return the unit and get another one.

Actually the Linksys LRT DMZ is like most other routers using the DMZ Host feature but if you configure the DMZ WAN port it can be connected to a switch and WAN DMZ uses a Private or Public IP Subnet instead of a single IP Address.

Normally DMZ isn't required for this because forwarding or port address translation can be used for this application.
