I have two physical drives(volumes) in my NAS configuration and I am able to login and figured out how to mount one volume on startup. However, with two different volumes, I haven't figured out how to mount them both. I'm using the following command to connect to the server:

afp://[diskname]:local

Is there an additional parameter to connect to a specific folder/volume so that I can launch both (or more) at startup? From Finder I was trying to connect to the server again and enter different credentials, but it didn't let me as I was already logged in to a different volume.

Any ideas here?

Yes, I've logged on by connecting to the server. Each of my volumes has different credentials. I was able to "game it" by logging on to one volume via smb and one by afp. That just seems a little clunky. My gut tells me there must be a better way, but I haven't found it yet.

confused: Assuming you are not talking about mounting a NAS volume on some other computer... you shouldn't have to do anything to mount volumes. I have two drives, two volumes. They are auto-mounted at bootup. The shared folders on each just appear on the network and in DSM's file manager.

Accessing the NAS is normally done by SMB shares. And that would apply to MAC OS, I'd assume.

Maybe I misunderstand why you are trying to get the MAC to mount the volume rather than use the shares on the NAS via SMB.

He's referring to the volume needing to auto mount at login for Time Machine to work properly. Because the backup happens hourly (incremental) the folder/volume needs to be mounted all the time. If you connect to server once it should reconnect each time automatically. Similar to mapping drives in windows, but with some subtle differences.

Here's some additional info. As stevech suggests, I am trying to mount two separate shares. I cannot mount the second one. Under the afp url, I can log in once, but am not allowed to a second time. I just here an error sound. If I log in under smb, I have the option of selecting either of the shares that I have setup. Once the first one loads, if I repeat the steps and try to select the second share (the mounted one is greyed out), I get an error that says: "There was a problem connecting to [diskstation], please contact your administrator. I'm baffled.

The only way I've been able to get both shares to load is to log on to one via smb and the other through afp. It's very clunky, but I'm thinking smb should be able to handle it, but I'm so far unsuccessful? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
