Looking for advice from the experts....

I currently use an older Buffalo G router. One of the 4 ports where wired networked items connect is not working anymore, but everything else is working well.

I am considering "upgrading" my router and am curious if there is a need to do so.

Regarding performance, the only thing I care about is my Xbox 360. It is hard-wired to the router.

I have tried several newer routers and have never found one that has the out-of-the-box range that my old Buffalo G router has, so I always return them.

Would replacing my old Buffalo router with a newer router that contains better "insides" (like more RAM) improve my Xbox Live performance in any way?

If your current router has fast enough routing throughput to keep up with your internet connection, there is no advantage.
