Regarding Untangle, I presume double-checked to make sure the Android clients were connected to the z4w's wifi, as opposed to other wifi or mobile broadband? I do see that others have reported similar phenomena on the Untangle forums... strange.

Regarding your best result, the AX6000 appears to be using TrendMicro for their filtering definitions, similar to Asus. Perhaps they're also adding some type of proprietary intelligence and/or filtering methods as well?

I would almost suggest you try Fortinet, either a FortiGate plus separate wifi (your AC3100 in AP mode, even a FortiAP) or a FortiWifi all-in-one. Hardware won't be cheap and yearly licensing is also high, but if they can effectively filter where/how others cannot, then that may be your answer. The E series FotiWifi's are N-only and F series haven't come out yet, but you could also go with a FortiGate paired with a FortiAP, which integrates very nicely. A spendy proposition, though; probably too overkill for home.

Asus don’t filter good on android. The TP-Link one is the only one that did from the routers I tried.

I tried a couple Orbi ones with circle. Circle is horrible. It blocks ACLJ video from the ACLJ app. Same problem with android. One was cable modem with an ap I didn’t need. Then router only.

Asus AX11000. Doesn’t filter android properly.
I don’t have my AC3100. I threw it out cus of problems it had. It didn’t filter android good either.

Gryphon. Same as Asus. No good on Android.

Untangle. Same issues.

TP-LINK Archer AX6000 worked proper. But they never update firmware and are too basic.
Plus their new Archer Ax11000 is very basic and even got rid of stuff from older routers that are good.
Not able to spend more then these are.
Open dns has same issues on droid. They all do.

edit. Looked at a secure web gateway demo video and I am interested in Forti. But I have no clue what to look at and where. I couldn’t find any product pages for lower end FortiGate. I also am betting it’ll have the same problem.

Hi all.
I need some help. I am not sure what to buy for my network that will be affordable for me and meet my needs. I don’t think I can find something that meets affordable and my needs.

My old router was Asus AC3100. 3 years or so old. I want something current. I’ve got a MacBook Pro, Note 10+, iPhone 8+, Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. My connection is 275/12 testing at 320/12 roughly.

I want to get an all in one device. One that can provide security and filtering. Support my connection speed as well. I’d like to block adult sites for the network. Shut off the internet at a certain time daily. Provide some security to protect myself. Av IPS etc and provide traffic use info to know how much I’m using up and down etc.

I’ve tried Asus. Their parental control doesn’t work reliably. It does not block adult content on Android that well but does a bit better on iPhone. The keyword filter don’t even work on Android. Tested with three Asus devices and any android phone.

My budget is about $400 plus tax. I don’t have any computer and no room for one. Desktop. I thank you.
pfsense on a small box. though if your skill cant match i dont know another good solution within your budget for an all in 1 device.
