In wanting a low cost switch with port-mirroring, VLAN, port based QoS, I was surprised to see 5 and 8 port switches with these features, at a cost not hugely more than commodity consumer switches. Like $75 for 5 port gigE with that feature set... Netgear ProSafe line.

Any comments and experience with various vendors in this space? These might be called "lightly managed" switches (as compared to $$K managed switches).

I use the Cisco SG 200-08 (Gigabit 8 port) which cost less than $100. It has port mirroring ability along with a hose of other features.

Thanks. Another low cost 8 port gigE.

Amazing how low cost these have become. Hey, it's just beach sand inside (silicon chips).
