In need of some guidance. I have a Brother HL-2240 printer connected to the USB on my rt-ac56u and I'm banging my head to trying to get it print.

The printer shows up in the firmware and it will print fine from windows with the EZ print utility. Problem is I can't print to it when it's setup as LPD printer in either macOS or Mint Linux. Nor will it print from windows if I manually set up it as an LPD printer.

I've watched CUPS on my mac and in linux. It says "the printer is in use" or it just times out. Then I can switch over to windows and print right away, provided I use their the Asus utility to install it. After cancelling everything I check CUPS and it says "Idle - "The Printer is in use".

CUPS drivers are up to date. The printer works when directly connected to macOS or Mint.

What firmware version are you running?

I just upgraded to 380.65_beta3 and it's working fine now. Backed up and downgraded to the stable release and it doesn't work. Upgraded and it works again.

I guess there is there is something in 380.64_2 that's causing a hiccup.

I have an RT-AC68U running 384.5. I just tried to configure my Brother HL-2140 as an LPR printer connected via the USB 2 port. My router sees the printer and says that it's Enabled, but my Mac (MacOS 10.13.6) is unable to talk to it. (It works fine connected directly to my Mac via USB.) I know that Brother printers are not supported by ASUS, but it's frustration that this feature seems to come and go depending on the firmware version.
