Hi all,
I'm pretty new to editing scripts and getting the most out of my router, but after tons of reading I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. www.hqt.ro has been a great website to accelerate my learning. Anyways, I am having MANY problems I hope someone can help me with.
My setup is the following. I have the latest version of Merlin installed (378.56_2) on my RT-AC66U. I installed ASUS Download Master, which automatically installed Optware. I know ASUS Download Master is not recommended due to infrequent updates and RAM/CPU usage, but I really like the ASUS Download utility for windows where you can open a torrent file using the software and it will automatically start downloading it in Download Master. Is there any equivalent to this for rutorrent?
Speaking of rutorrent, I followed the guide and installed entware on a previous router setup trial, but I could not access the GUI interface by typing the web address in google chrome. Any reason why this would be?
Speaking of Entware, every time I tried to install Entware my router becomes slow to load web pages and keeps stalling when loading web pages every once in a while. This has happened multiple times, and why I elected to just stick with Optware, although I know Entware is newer.
Speaking of Optware, is there a significant difference in installing Optware-New Generation vs plain old optware I had ASUS Download Master install? I see that you can do pretty much everything on optware that you can do on Entware anyways, so I was thinking of installing it...hopefully it won't slow down my router like Entware did.
Now for other questions:
I can't get Midnight Commander to recognize my arrow keys. I've searched google and tried multiple things in puTTy, including changing terminal > keyboard > application keypad settings to "Application" for both options, and connection > data > terminal-type string to "linux," but MC still just types capital letters when I try pressing the arrow keys. I'm not sure what to do.
I saw that the later versions of ASUS merlin firmware can send certain IPs through the VPN. Is there any way I can have JUST ASUS DOWNLOAD MASTER use the VPN but still allow the rest of my devices connecting through the router to not use the VPN?
I have other questions too, but this is good for now. Thank you.
