Hey All,

I am hacving a strange issue with my router lately. I have an Asus RT-AC3200 running Merlin 384.4_2 and when I get to around 28-30 connected devices, I begin getting "Invalid Password" when a device tries to connect to any of the SSIDs. Even if the device has already been successfully connected. I am not using "Smart Connect" as this was creating issues with some of my devices connecting. I have tried to adjust my DHCP lease time down to 2 hours (7200 seconds) to see if somehow it is not releasing IPs or something. Does anyone have some ideas for the cause of this? TIA!!

Maybe this would be a good test to add to this site for wireless. How many connections are supported and how many active users per radio.

Options: re-flash to factory firmware, email asus with tech question, request firmware upgrade to handle more devices. not declared in asus spec. great luck!

not sure of the cause but there are reports of various wireless problems in the 384.4_2 thread so it could be related. you should probably try 384.5 (Beta 2) or go back to 380.70

I will try to 384.5 beta this weekend. Thanks for the info!

Same problem here with what indeed feels like max connections. Some devices get a stable connection. Others seem to fight for a connection, re-connecting and dropping often. 384.5 Beta 2 did not fix it for us. Reverted back to 380.xx resolved it. (Had to do use recovery mode, as the GUI didn't allow the downgrade.)

FWIW: The router is in AP mode. 8-10 2.4GHz clients. 15-20 5GHz clients.

Upgraded to 384.5 this weekend. Waiting to get more connections. Currently hovering in the mid-twenties.

Sorry for the long delay in results... Finally got enough connections, and it seems that 30 is the "max" allowed. As soon as I turn off one device, it will allow another to connect.
