Ironic. It was only a couple of days ago that I was in two minds as to whether I should make a post mentioning that almost all of their servers outside of the US have been offline since the beginning of the year. And of the few that were online not all of them did buffer-bloat tests.
Turns out that its easy to do a buffer bloat test using any good speed test server. Just start a continuous ping to google.com and then run the speed test. I like this better because I can run the ping on multiple machines my network to see the effect. I'm sure you guys knew this trick though. Not surprisingly, ping times on all networked machines go up when the outbound gets saturated.
