My RT-AC68U is having problem after one week of use. I lowered the temp to 60C with a fan but now I cannot connect to do admin work and Speedtest drop to 10/10MB. When I connect to my verizon router I get 90/90 and when I get my backup Buffalo router I get also 90/90.

Is this a hardware or firmware issue? Should I do nvram flush? (depress the wds button)

Correction: 380.65 and not 780.65

Which Verizon router are you using? the MI424WR Rev I? Or something else? Are you on Coax or Ethernet?

I'd reflash and setup from scratch. Don't import any settings. What are you also testing on? Wired or wireless?

Model Name:FiOS-G1100
Hardware Version: 1.03

Coax

That's the terrible Quantum Gateway that they have.
As I said, reflash and setup from scratch. Do not import settings.
Late last nite, I cleared the nvram , everything reset to 192.168.1.1 and uploaded import the setting ( a NO NO) from backup and admin from another PC. It seems OK. I re-flash if the issue returns.

How should I reflash? Use the Asus restore tool and re-install to 378.55 and then use the Asus admin upgrade to goto 380.65?

Well, you are pretty much violating a clean setup by importing old settings. Can't help you if you mess that up.

No, just release 380.65 the do a factory reset. Configure the router afresh and do not import old settings! It is a pain but the best way to go.

Reflash not release... darn Android spell check!

I could not use the Asus recovery tool to reflash to 380.65. The comment was "unable to recovery system file".
So I just used the Asus GUI's admin firmware upgrade to do a reflash to 380.65. I checked the image hash and it OK. Next, I did the GUI factory default reset.

Is this correct?
Tonite I will manually re-enter outer configuration ( LAN IP address, and static leases, etc)

I had this problem too. Could not even get the Asus router into rescue mode, and the power light would just flash slowly after boot. Don't know if this relates to your problem, but I had to buy another router. After that problem solved. I went from the AC-RT68 to the AC1900 which is really the same router. So I was able to restore my settings and everything worked beautifully.

Did a factory default reset after re-installing from the Asus gui admin firmware update and went from 380.65 to 380.65. Restored my router configuration by manually re-entering all values. So far after 10hrs, checked usingspeedtest which indicates 90Mb/90Mb and admin to router's LAN addr seems fine. No hiccups but fingers crossed.
