Since you know about iptables, I am thinking that it will be easier if you flash the iptables and redo the order of it. U can use the existing system generated as guide and input them when necessary.
This script should be place in the firewall-start script.
I am not expert but I self learn too. I think the current setting is good enough for basic user but if u need customisation, you have to be an expert on your own. After all this router is meant for basic user level and asuswrt-merlin is just a slight upgrade based on its existing platform. But don't think u can expect must from a brand new GUI for the firewall configuration. Alternatively is can try out openwrt which really start the router bare and full customisation. Lol. I don't like it.
