Merlin on RT-ax88u

I bought a RT-AX86U 2 weeks ago. Ran merlin beta2 great. Then the 5g channel stopped working. I sent it back and replaced it with the only one I could get quick which was the AX88U.

This stupid POS barely works. With asus firmware I have it up running but devices take forever to connect to the 5g channel. It's so bad there is no internet on device for up to 5m sometimes.

I tried lastest merlin stable and beta2. Both of them have the same problem, no internet. DHCP is connected. No change in any settings. No internet and 2.5 or 5 channels.

Without merlin there is no point keeping this router. I can't stand the connection to 5g issues. Ax86u was instant and merlin was great.

Any suggestions to get internet connection through wifi on merlin? I don't have a lan connection on my laptop so can't test that.

Which 'AX88U', exactly?

That's why Smart Connect is 'dumb'.

Use discrete SSID's for each band and take control of your network.

Fully agree with L&LD. Don't use Smart Connect and keep separate SSID for two bands. I am using AX88U since year ago and never faced problems with 5G band.
