Hello recently pulled the plug and got a asus 86u router and the manufacture date on box shows 2025. What exactly does that mean if the router was released in 2022-2023? Are they still making updates to the physical router ?

This means the device is still in production and yours was made in 2025. Nothing else.

Just a suggestion for future posting. It helps to be specific on which router you have. There is no "asus 86u" router. There are:
RT-AC86U
RT-AX86U
RT-AX86U Pro

Each one is different. The RT-AC86U is end-of-life per Asus.

PS: The Manufacturing Date is just that. The date the product was manufactured. Doesn't generally mean anything more then that. Certain Asus routers have lengthy multi year manufacturing runs. Others have short manufacturing runs.

Was wondering about that. I did a internet search before posting and only the AX and AC series routers were coming up in the first few return pages.
