I have been having an issue with LAN port on Asus mobo. Running Win10.

For 9 months, I have had the network set to auto link which resulted in 1.0Gbps link and everything worked properly

However, I had network connection issues yesterday. The computer would not connect to my home network. After changing switch, cables, etc I found that if I manually set the link speed to 10Mbps or 100Mbps, the computer WILL connect to my network at that set speed.

If I set it to auto negotiate link or 1.0Gbps link speed it will NOT connect. I've removed and reinstalled the network card drivers as well.

I am able to use USB network adapter via USB 3.0 port and get link at 1.0Gbps.
However, I want to fix the NIC on mobo and use that if possible.

Does anyone have advice on how to fix this? Thanks.

is the usb using the same cable and switch port as the pc was ?

had any power issues or lightning in the area recently ?

try a PCIe intel lan card and see if that helps.

Yes - tried 3 different cables and 2 switches. Same results.

Is it possible that the lan port on mobo is defective but still allows 10-100Mbps while not allowing 1.0Gbps? Seems strange if that is the case.

try a linux live distribution on USB or CD/DVD and see if the port behaves the same. i once had a OS issue with Win7 that was only resolved by a complete rebuild of the system.

yes it is possible that it will sync at 100 versus 1000 as i believe an additional pair is required for 1000.
