I have a 250gb hard drive hooked up to the usb port for samba sharing.
It was working fine until last night. had to put a large file on it, so I ejected the drive (properly using router GUI) and plugged it into my pc. Moved the file over and then plugged it back into the router. I've done this many times in the past with no problems.

Share works fine on Android phone, but Windows keeps saying " You might not have permission . The stub received bad data."

if i enable anonymous access it works fine. But i would rather have it password protected.
If I type \\servername\drivename\foldername , it works fine. but just entering servername and drive name gives me an error.

What the heck is going on? I plugged in a another usb flash drive and that worked fine.
Now if I format the external drive to ext2 filesystem, everything works again. I would like to keep it ntfs because of compatibility and it was working fine before, so I'm kind of lost.
I also did a full reset on the router, still no go.

just an update. i figured it out, it was one of the folders that had a long, weird name. Apparently Windows hates anything longer than 12 characters and it screws up the entire thing. Not the fault of the router. My mistake in not knowing the limitation of Windows.
