I would like to set up a LAN only intranet from my n66u that cannot be seen from the wan side probably using a USB device, is this possible?

Nothing too clever only basic HTML.

What should I use for storage. The big worry for me is fire, I've seen so many solid state pen drives get too hot to touch and start to melt they worry me.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers,

Bob.

I assume you mean you want to host a web server on the RT-N66U.
That is not a simple click and go feature.
Here are some links related to it:

Your concern about USB Memory sticks surprises me, I use them since day one and never found any too hot to touch or even melting away.
I can imagine things can go wrong with bad seating of the stick in the USB port, in that case the micro type USB sticks without a full USB connector bezel maybe a bad choice.
Is there a typical type or brand you experienced to be so bad?

Thanks for the information.

That seems a very complex and time consuming operation which I'm sure is way beyond me. It confirms my horror at Linux which is always massive amounts of gibberish text to do anything at all. Linux is for people who like pain. :)

I work with kids and they seem to burn out pen drives all the time.

Cheers,

Bob.

I've had a Kingston Datatraveler 410 connected to my router for nearly two years now without any issue.

In general Kingston drives are quite reliable.
