NAS advise

New Around Here
Hey,

Ive been doing some research and I havent been able to find what NAS should I buy.
I have currently set a DLNA-based network using my laptop and my Samsung Smart TV, since I have a big media collection. Because many of my files and in different formats, and my TV wont play some types, Ive been using Mezzmo which has Transcoding to play some files such as MKV.
I belive I am pressing my laptop too much, so I decided to buy a NAS server for the hole purpose of storing and streaming my media files.
Since my Samsung wont play some of my files I need a NAS that can transcode ANY type of files. Also, I wouldnt ming torrent and itunes features!
Would you recommend me one?

PS: Please excuse any misspelings

I don't think you want to ask a low/modest cost NAS to transcode media files. Too burdensome. Leave transcoding to a PC, or a super duper media player that can transcode on the fly.

You won't find such a beast. QNAP and Synology NASes can perform limited transcoding. Synology only for audio, QNAP for some video. Not general purpose, though and they will bog down the NAS performance.
