Questionable reviews and test methods. Got popular because few sites of this type still exist. Very far from what SmallNetBuilder was doing with professional equipment and analysis from a person who worked in the field for years. If you need correct information about Asus routers in particular - SNB Forums is the best source. I can't speak about other forum members, but I find quite often incorrect information on Dong's website.

I have also read some things there that were questionable at very least, but as you said it is the only place (that I saw) that seems to go that much into detail about routers.

Visual representation and information relevance period killed the websites. Doesn't make much sense wasting resources to make in-depth review for a product moving to old news tomorrow and to EoL in few years time. Most consumer products are disposable now, the business model changed. Asus for example has 100 different models based on 2-3 hardware platforms, common market flooding strategy. TP-Link for consumer products is doing the same, they started the trend. Which product to review - current non-Pro, slightly never Pro or coming tomorrow Pro Plus in RT or GT form? The author will spend days to test it properly, access to expensive equipment is needed, most don't get paid for the work and 100 old-school people like us will eventually read it...
