I am putting together the ability to stream DVD and Blu-ray rips so I can put the disks in storage. I am planning on gettign a Dune player for the front end.
I know I'm going to need a NAS of some sort for storage of the data. I've been looking at various solutions, and some of them have additional capabilities.
In particular, I was hoping to offload a couple of server capabilities off my PC and onto another box to free up some resources. We have 3 Squeezeboxen in the house, and I know that some NAS solutions have Squeezebox Server capabilities. Also, I currently have WAMP on here, mainly for a recipe database and online family tree software, both of which are php/mysql-based. The web-server needs on these is fairly low intensity.
So I guess my question is, would a product from Synology or QNAP be powerful enough to stream a single HD feed while running Squeezebox Server and the web server, or am I better off getting a separate cheap Linux box to do the server capabilities?
