NAS for Small Business

B228

New Around Here
We're looking into a NAS system for our small business instead of a server. One of our main goals is to be able to access and work on files from home. Can a NAS system do this? Are there any issues we should be aware of? Thanks.

Many NASes can do this and provide access to iOS and Android devices via apps also.

You want to look for solutions that don't rely on router port forwarding or UPnP, like NETGEAR's ReadyNAS remote or WD's wd2go.

Most all do. I recommend Synology or QNAP. They and others have on-line demos on their web sites; try before buy.

Consider to the support aspect. Netgear, in my experience with Pro products, has grossly incompetent tech support because Netgear is so consumer oriented.

Qnap vs Synology

I will share that I purchased a Synology ds209 and now wish I purchased a QNAP. The QNAP NAS's have tracking and logging of user activities such as who created, modified, and deleted files. This is missing from my Synology. Best of luck with whatever you decide.
