I'm considering purchasing my first NAS and it's currently a choice between:

QNAP TS219+
or
Synology DS211+

My home network is setup with the main family computer directly connected to a D-Link DIR-855 Router and my gaming rig and daugters PC connected via dual band USB wireless adapters. I also have a couple of wireles enabled laptops and a XBOX 360 Kinect which I'll probably use in the future for media streaming as well as gaming.

My question then.

Will I have any issues connection to the NAS using the wireless connected PC's laptop's etc. I'll want to be accessing iTunes and doing regular backups and experimenting with all of the other features these NAS provide?

Wireless connection will limit your speeds to under 100 Mbps Ethernet (12.5 MB/s) speed. So you're paying for NAS performance you won't be using.

What about if I change to powerline networking, I see Netgear have just introduced their AV500, this should give me better connection speeds, should'nt it?

Speed could be somewhat higher and more stable. But still less than 100 Mbps Ethernet.
