New Around Here
I want to put in a NAS for our small business. It will have about 5-6 PC reading and writing files to it.

I'm thinking RAID 1 so I can mirror two drives. I will then backup the data to another machine for backup purposes. This would provide 2 levels of redundancy. I'm debating 1gig drives or 2gig drives.

Now the 2 I'm looking at are
Synology DS211j

Drobo (4bay) Not sure I need this much.

I want good performance though. So would be open to any suggestions

There are any number of products that will fill your relatively simple needs. The Synology has way more features than you'll use. Why are you considering it?

I'm looking at that one so in case I want the other features, they are already there not to mention the good reviews.

I know I could probably get away with a WD Mycloud but the reviews on these are not good. When buying computer equipment I like to order more than I need. That way I don't have to replace it in a year.

From my reading it seems that the Drobo products are not terribly fast, though that may have changed. If transfer speeds are your priority, then the Synology is probably your best bet.
