Hi, I'm new here. I just bought an ASUS 5300 router, for the purpose of running my VPN through my router in an effort to have any device connected to my router make use of the VPN. I installed the latest Merlin firmware (384.6 I guess is what it was called?). I followed a tutorial on how to do that (i'm a total novice with anything tech related). It seemed to work well enough. I then followed instructions

I have an xbox and a smart tv hard wired into the router; the xbox works, didn't need any configuring just plugged and played (side note: how can i tell if the xbox is actually running through the VPN?) The smart TV will not connect to the internet.
In terms of wireless, devices will connect and work fine for about 3 mins and then say they are still connected with good signal but cannot reach the internet. Unplugging modem and router fixes this, again for about 3 minutes. All devices EXCEPT my laptop which works fine minus occasional significant drops in speed (I've been using PIA for about 2 years without this much speed issue).
Another random issue: at times i cannot even access the router admin page without a full modem and router unplug.
I know this is a broad question and i'm sure the answers are already on this site but can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
