I'm about to move to a house and will then have my wired equipment spread all over the place, so I would like to have some silent 5 port gigabit switches in the rooms, connected to my RT-N66U. Any suggestions?

Hi,

As far as I have seen until today all 5-port switches are silent: They have not moving parts which would make noise...

With kind regards

Yeah, that I know, my question was more regarding performance... :)

I've used a lot of Netgear GS105 and GS105E switches with good results. They're well built, reliable and fairly inexpensive. I think their performance is about the same. The GS105E is a smart switch with VLAN, QOS and port mirroring.

You will find no practical performance difference among switches in this class. Buy on warranty and price. Note, however, that some people have had problems with GS105's. Search the Forum and you'll find the threads.
