Hello friends,

I'm helping a friend at his house and were trying to get his G-drives setup on the router so they can be used on the LAN for storage. We're running Merlins 3.0.0.4.374.33 on an AC66U and all is well. Both of the drives were formatted on his MAC and they both have content on them.

The router recognized them, but they show up as EFI and EFI(1) on the network and the router thinks the drives are empty when you view them on the Network map page and on the lan itself from another computer. Both of the drives have some files on them, but it shows the available space as if they were empty.

I'm wondering what the best way is to go about making these works so that both, mac and windows machines can access them. Hopefully they don't need to be formatted, but I'm not sure at this point.

Thank you for you help and any responses.

I dont' know what support is built into the router for

Formated as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

but I would suspect it's caused by the format

Yep that's unsupported to share through the router.

Yeah, I kinda figured the MAC formatting was the issue. I think I was just afraid to say it to him. :D Thanks for the little image with the accepted formats. I guess this is a case of a good ol fashion, RTFM!!

I don't think the size of the drive is actually a problem here though, because the router shows the correct total space on the 4TB drive as 3775.50gb. I think this just boils down to the formatting issues.

Thanks for all that responded. Looks like we got some file shuffling to do so that we can format these things. I will report back and let you know if the 4TB does indeed work.
