This has been an issue for ages; even with my previous RT-N66U (and now an issue with RT-AC68U).

I'm pretty sure it is a setting on the router.

I have two thermostats, a home automation system and the iPhone, and iPad apps that connect to Nest.

The thermostats disconnect (but only really when I need to connect with them to change them from the app) then reconnect correctly on their own.

Anybody know a setting I can tweak so they stay connected all the time?

I've read about issues with the thermostats falling asleep and the router net letting them reconnect, to issues with the router's NAT table purging too fast (perhaps 2 minutes) instead of 30. Any idea how to change this?

This is not a new issue related to any recent Nest firmware (I've had this problem for a long time).

I do not have a Nest but have had some connection issues with a RT-N66R when the 2.4 GHZ was set to 20/40 or 40 MHZ Channel bandwidth. I have discussed this with Asus tech support and they recommended I try the 20 MHZ Channel bandwidth in 2.4 GHZ. And my WIFI connections are rock solid! I also manage a couple of RT-AC68U's with the same settings and they, too, work great!
