Netgear Firmware Update Problem

I have a WPN824V3 router that I have been unable to update the firmware w/either Firefox or IE7. In either case I get an invalid file error message (referring to the .img file I have downloaded from Netgear) when I click on 'Upgrade' in the units configuration software. I have tried disabling Java (per info elsewhere) but to no avail. Is the .img file to be directly loaded or does it need to be unpacked and, if so, what free utility will do that?

I'm downloading the firmware update from Netgear's support site that they show is specific to my unit. Here's the file that I'm retrieving and that I get an 'invalid file' error message when trying to upload:

WPN824v3 Firmware Version 1.0.8_1.0.7
