New Around Here
Hi Everyone,

I almost bought a Thecus, but got nervous about the support and refinement of the product. Has anyone looked at or tested the new 314?

I am leaning towards the 314 for the Atom Processor and the ability to choose XRAID2 or RAID 5. The major negative is the lack of reviews on this newly launched product.

I did see the 104 review on this site, but that has a totally different processor. I would appreciate any feedback (Newegg has a combo deal with WD Red NAS drives)

Best bet is to ask on the Readynas forum site.

I have a RN102. Its good. I'm happy with the new OS, but that said I cannot help but be intrigued by the steps Synology and Qnap have taken over the last year or two. I recommend you evaluate all three vendors. One thing Readynas seems to do better than all others is the built in backup options. Very flexible.

Its the plugins that kinda lack with the Readynas.... They're tying to change that, but time will tell.

Personally I don't bother with Thecus at this point in time.

I agree ! I considered ReadyNAS before I bought a 2-bay Synology.

Huh? QNAP/Synology have several good built-in backup tools. Including time backup (get 3 month old file version back). Backup to USB3 or eSATA. Or iSCSI to a distant site, or WEBDAV, or FTP.
