Network issue with 378.51 on RT-AC68U

New Around Here
Hi Merlin/all,

After upgrade to 378.51 from 376.49_5, I'm experiencing the following issues:

1. I'm using wifi calling with T-Mobile for cellphone coverage at home. Since the upgrade, I can not connect to the server, I'm getting an "can not connect" error message on the phone. (My wife's cellphone has no issue to connect to wifi calling server)

2. Certain computers on my network have issue visiting most websites. I'm getting timed out errors, or it shows the page is loading forever. (for example amazon, yahoo both has this issue)

After play with the settings, I decided to flash the Asus original firmware RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_378_4585-g44c234f, everything is working as expected after that.

Sorry for not able to be more precise. Please let me know if there's anyway I can provide more info to help track down the bug.

Hi Anthony,

Did you rest to defaults and do the configuration freshe with .51 update?
Alternativly you can use this NVRAM Save/Restore Utility to the job for you...

With kind regards
Joe

Perhaps try changing your DNS servers?

Is this wireless only? Did you try a wired connection on the same computer?

If the former, try deleting/forgetting and recreating the connection profiles on the clients.

Yes, it's wireless. There is no ethernet port on the machine, can't test with wired connection. But some other wireless connected computer works fine. Furthermore, I reinstalled windows from scratch on one machine, the problem still there on the fresh OS.

Reinstalling Windows will certainly reset the client profile, so scratch that one.

Another possibility is differences in the power save options may be acting badly. On Windows make sure that the Power Save option for the wireless is set for Maximum Performance, and on the router, set Enable WMM APSD to disabled. Also, you didn't say which band....if 2.4GHz, try setting Regulation mode to 802.11d

If you get desperate, you might install tcpdump on the router and capture a few minutes of traffic to a file then open the file in Wireshark and see what is really happening. If your problem is network-related then Wireshark will usually make it obvious.
