After loging into the router and using the below link it seems to be still high 90's? but this wasnt a clean install.

router.asus.com/ajax_coretmp.asp

fanctrl_info = ; curr_cpuTemp = "92.497"; curr_rxData = fanctrl_info[3]; curr_coreTmp_2 = fanctrl_info[1]; curr_coreTmp_5 = fanctrl_info[2];
fanctrl_info = ; curr_cpuTemp = "93.478"; curr_rxData = fanctrl_info[3]; curr_coreTmp_2 = fanctrl_info[1]; curr_coreTmp_5 = fanctrl_info[2];

I suspect a reset to defaults will invoke the CPU temp fix... I had to do this when the fix was first pushed put with 9.0.0.4.386.41994.

Wrong router---you seem to have a RT-AC68U: this release is for the RT-AC86U. Don't worry, it has tripped up many users before you.

looks like i might need to reset and restore settings, if that fails i will try without restore. but a clean install is an headace due to having round 50 devices connected which 25 of them are set into kids profiles.

fanctrl_info = ; curr_cpuTemp = "97.403"; curr_rxData = fanctrl_info[3]; curr_coreTmp_2 = fanctrl_info[1]; curr_coreTmp_5 = fanctrl_info[2];

what's the ambient temperature? and is the router in a place with decent cooling? I live in Saudi Arabia and and it's really hot nowadays (low 29-high 36/38) and when the AC is not on my router temps are in the high 70 reaching 80 sometimes.

modem + router both sitting on a shelf anround 5 foot in the air next to an open window which is roughly 2 meters away.

room temp not a problem.

I restore/reset with the tickbox ticked.
uploaded old settings.

fanctrl_info = ; curr_cpuTemp = "94.950"; curr_rxData = fanctrl_info[3]; curr_coreTmp_2 = fanctrl_info[1]; curr_coreTmp_5 = fanctrl_info[2];

I dont fancy setting everything up right now. so its like this for a while.

You do understand that your roundtrip of resetting, followed by reloading of backup settings accomplishes absolutely nothing, right? It is the equivalent of doing nothing at all. Just FYI.

I updated from 40451 (latest firmware without the overheat bug). Before the update, cpu temp was 86-87 celsius. After the update: 97-98 celsius... And cpu prochot - cpu core1 switch off messages started to appear in the log.

I didn't do factory reset and I won't do it (came from an fw without the bug, so this overheat issue shouldn't happen...)

Downgraded to 40451. I am happy with it.

What is this?o_O

Am looking forward to downloading, thanks for the find

alot of spam in the log for me.

kernal messages for turning on and off the cooling for cpu1. I'm guessing thats because the high 90's temp im seeing.

.404 i think was the last fw that had no issues
.416 i think had this issue
.426 looks to not have merged with the beta (if the beta fixes it)

My internet connection between devices seem to face no problem.

Waiting for the ASUS GT-AXE11000 to hit UK markets then ill be upgrading. I am forced to do a clean install then :(
