Skynet is not exactly what it makes you think it is.

Skynet is a great addition to the router. It offers features that of some paid firewalls. It’s a good step in between a stock ASUS router and hardware firewall.

Skynet is the first thing installed after Diversion is installed (which also installs Entware).

The reasons given for not using it and trying to make people think it is something mysterious are laughable.

Try to not take advice from users that don't even use Asus + RMerlin firmware-powered routers.

Best to try it yourself and decide then.

Everyone is free to run whatever they want on their own router, of course. What @TheLyppardMan should know is in default configuration Skynet marks as blocked what is in fact blocked by the router's own firewall. The network is not "exposed to hackers" without Skynet. This was his question and concern.

i think you will find Skynet logging and analytics are far better than that of default Asus. Also, it gives the user more options to configure the default Asus firewall with respect to what it blocks and does not block.

Merlin firmware is far superior than that of stock Asus when you factor in the fact Merlin releases patch security vulnerabilities before Asus official releases, the additional options to tailor the router, and the fact its very stable.… E.G. router uptime with no issues is amazing.
