New Around Here
ive been in my house (2 floors ,old plaster walls and brick 2500sq ft) for a year now using my netgear r7000 router from 2014 i lose wifi connectivity in half the house. Im looking to upgrade as i want better connectivity to every corner of my house. at first i was looking at just adding an extender which would be fine. then i decided to just get a new router as well to replace the aging r7000. Finally im looking into a ORBI mesh system with 2-3 units spread around the house.

so my question is

Netgear ac3000 ORBI 2-3 units OR R7800 x4s + EX8000 extender(s)

Thanks
Rick

Or just buy one more R7000 and run it as a AP, put it in the center of FL1 and the second one on FL2 in the center of the house.
Or a R7800 run it in router mode and the R7000 in AP mode.

If you have an ethernet backhaul you could use an access point as suggested with your R7000 in AP mode. BUT that only works if you have the ethernet connection between the two. If not I would go the Orbi route but use it in AP mode and use your R7000 as the router. The R7000 is a great router and you can turn the wifi off if you need to place the main Orbi near it.

I went with the orbi rbk53 3pc with the router setup in my office in the middle of my house and a satellite on either end. I can speedtest at 100-120mbps at every corner of my house including the basement , front porch , driveway, garage, and back deck. 100% satisfied.

I went with the Orbi 3 pack... it was perfect from March to July, then with the release of the 1.10.x became the most disgusting nightmare of disconnects and crashes you can imagine like so many others in the Orbi community forums. Sold mine on Craigslist, went to Eero and haven't had a single unexpected disconnect, compared to tens of thousands as measured by a Fingbox on the Orbi.
